Chicago neighborhoods?

with 6 comments

Heading to Chicago in mid September to attend a Cubs midweek game. What’s the best neighborhood to stay in a apartment or B&B near Wrigley Field? My wife and I are looking for an area that’s is safe with great shops, restaurants and is a train ride or walking distance to Wrigley. Your advice is greatly appreciated

  1. Check out this website. It has a layout of the entire Wrigleyville area, with info on hotels, restaurants, shopping, transportation, etc. It’s actually pretty informative.

  2. Wrigleyville- walking distance from Wrigley Field (hence the name), around Southport Ave.-lots of great restaurants, boutiques, and a train station, anywhere around Halsted, Broadway, or Lincoln Ave.-great shops and restaurants, and Irving Park. The Chicago area is very accessible by trains, so there shouldn’t be a problem with trains anywhere you stay.

  3. I used to live in Lincoln Park, and recommend this hotel to everyone-I used to live in Lincoln Park, and recommend this hotel to everyone. It is within a 2 mile walking range to Wrigley, and is in a very safe neighborhood. It is not a B and B but there is a Panera Bread right across the street from it for breakfast, or a great grocery store with lots of neat things to eat (Eatsies in Century city mall). There is also a great place across the street with mediteranian (spelling) food. Closer to Wrigley is

If you google the Wrigley neighborhood, google Lakeview-there are other great shops and restaurants in that area.

  5. The area around Wrigley Field is lots of fun (Wrigleyville / Lakeview), as is the area just south of it (Lincoln Park). Basically anywhere east of Racine, between Addison and Fullerton, will put you in the middle of fun areas with lots of shops and easy transportation along the Red Line directly to Wrigley Field.

  6. I say stay in Lincoln Park. There are great restaurants and a nice hotel. Plus, you’ll feel like you’re in a neighborhood.
